Instructions to authors
How to prepare and format your manuscript for the International Journal of Legal Science and Innovation. Following these guidelines helps us review your work quickly and fairly.
Categories of submission
All manuscripts must fall within the scope of law and the legal sciences.
Research Paper
Original, in-depth scholarship (3,000+ words) advancing a legal argument or analysis.
Article
Focused commentary on a contemporary legal question or development (1,500–3,000 words).
Case Comment
Critical analysis of a significant judgment and its implications (1,000–2,000 words).
Short Note
A concise note on an emerging issue, statute or reform (1,000–2,000 words).
Book Review
A considered review of a recent legal text or monograph (1,500–2,000 words).
Other Works
Other formats of legal writing are welcome at the Editorial Board's discretion.
Structure
Submit your manuscript as a Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx). It should be concisely written, with illustrations placed at appropriate points; borders and decorative elements are not entertained anywhere in the text. A manuscript should ordinarily contain:
Title · Abstract · Keywords · Introduction · Body / Analysis · Conclusion · References.
Abstract & keywords
Every manuscript must carry a self-explanatory, brief and informative abstract. State your arguments, analysis and conclusions clearly, with proper authority to support them. A conclusion is desirable and should draw together the objectives set out in the introduction.
Citation
Use a uniform, consistent method of citation throughout — the Bluebook is recommended for legal writing. Whichever style you choose, apply it consistently across the body and the footnotes.
Original & unpublished. The work must be your own and not published or under review elsewhere.
Author details. Provide the proper names, affiliations and email addresses of all authors. Co-authorship is permitted up to a maximum of four authors.
No plagiarism. IJLSI does not entertain plagiarism in any form. Submissions are screened (Turnitin / iThenticate); plagiarised papers are rejected.
Word limits are exclusive of footnotes and vary by category (see above).
