How a manuscript is reviewed
- SubmissionYou submit your manuscript through the online portal and receive a Manuscript ID at once. There is no charge to submit.
- Initial screeningThe editorial team checks that the paper falls within the scope of law and the legal sciences, that it follows the formatting requirements, and that it passes the plagiarism check (Turnitin / iThenticate). A paper that does not pass screening is not sent for review.
- Double-blind reviewThe paper is sent to two independent reviewers with expertise in its subject. Authors and reviewers are not told each other’s identities at any stage.
- DecisionThe decision depends on the reports of both reviewers. If either reviewer recommends rejection, the paper is referred for editorial review, and the final decision rests on that editorial assessment. The Editor-in-Chief’s decision is final.
- RevisionsIf the reviewers ask for changes, you are told exactly what is needed. The paper goes forward only once the required changes have been made.
- Proof approvalBefore publication, the corresponding author receives the camera-ready proof by email, typeset exactly as it will appear, and either approves it or lists the corrections needed. Corrections are limited to errors; new material cannot be added at this stage. Up to two rounds of corrections are allowed, and a proof with no reply within 7 days is treated as approved.
- PublicationOnce the pre-publication formalities are complete (the signed copyright form and the article processing charge), the paper is published with a permanent Crossref DOI, and every author receives an e-certificate.

The first author is notified by email and WhatsApp at each stage of the review. You can also follow your manuscript at any time on the manuscript tracking page, using your Manuscript ID and the first author’s email address.
